Falkirk fireworks display canceled due to vaccine passport requirements

The Falkirk fireworks display has been canceled for the second year in a row due to Covid restrictions.

Thousands of people gather in Callendar Park on November 5, but with new vaccination passport rules coming into force, organizers say a posting will not be possible for 2021.

The annual event typically attracts between 25,000 and 30,000 visitors.

Bosses say they would not be able to fence off the entire site and could not provide enough stewards to verify everyone has been doubly vaccinated before entry.

Neil Brown, Managing Director of Falkirk Community Trust, said: “We are sorry to have to share this news, but I am sure those who have been looking forward to attending this event will understand this decision.

“We must continue to reduce the level of transmission of the virus and do everything possible to prevent its spread. “
