The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) has identified seven steps to renew the passport electronically through its website ica.gov.ae and its “ICA UAE” smartphone app.
According to the ICA, the first step is to register and create an account, or to use the digital identity in case of prior registration.
Next, the person should select “Passport Issuing Service” and then decide which member whose passport will be renewed.
The next step is to select “Passport renewal” from the list of reasons for issuing the passport, followed by verification and updating of data if necessary.
The last step is to pay the fees.
The passport can be received from the authorized delivery company.
The ICA urged citizens to ensure the accuracy and validity of the data, which includes the validity of the identification number and expiration date, the correctness of the telephone number and postal address before sending pay the fees to avoid delays in completing the transaction.
The data will be reviewed and audited by the ICA.
The ICA recently updated its app, where Identity, Citizenship and Residence services have been merged into a unified ICA UAE SMART app.
The update includes a virtual wallet containing electronic copies of personal documents issued by the ICA, such as identity card and residence visa.
It also includes the addition of multiple notifications and instant chat service throughout the day, seven days a week.
The app serves citizens, citizens of GCC countries, residents and visitors.
